The Academy Backgrounder
With nearly 70,000 members, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (formerly the American Dietetic Association) is the world's largest organization of food and nutrition professionals. A leading source for nutrition information, the Academy promotes optimal nutrition, health and well-being to the public. The Academy is headquartered in Chicago. In addition, the Academy also has government affairs offices in Washington, D.C.
In an effort to educate consumers on the importance of home food safety, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the ConAgra Foods Foundation have joined together for a multi-year national public awareness campaign called Home Food Safety...It's in Your Hands®.
Spokesperson Network
Recognized as "the food and nutrition experts," the Academy's national spokesperson network consists of 30 registered dietitians who voluntarily speak on behalf of the Academy in the top 25 media markets across the country.
On average, Academy spokespeople conduct nearly 200 interviews each month with local/national print and broadcast media. All Academy spokespeople are available for interviews regarding food safety, as well as other food and nutrition topics.
