The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation has a new grant opportunity for students. The Foundation/ConAgra Foods Food Safety Student Challenge was developed around the Home Food Safety campaign. Nine scholarships of $4,500 will be available.
Home Food Safety calls consumers to action and emphasizes the critical role they play keeping themselves and their families safe. Together with ConAgra Foods, the Academy developed four simple and easy-to-follow home food safety messages, drawn from government recommendations and the Academy's positions:
This program communicates the important role consumers play in preparing foods safely in their own homes. Home Food Safety is dedicated to providing home food safety statistics, information about food borne illness (also known as food poisoning), and safe food handling information and tips.
College living provides a unique opportunity to educate college students on the importance of food safety. The goal of the Foundation/ConAgra Foods Food Safety Challenge is to educate and improve food safety for those living on campus focusing on the above four key areas.
The application deadline is February 1, 2012.
